Message from the President
and CEO

Publication of Loto-Québec's First Quarterly Report

For the first quarter of fiscal 2009-2010, Loto-Québec announced consolidated revenues of $978.8 million and net income of $367.9 million. These earnings represent increases of 0.8% and 2.8% respectively as compared to the same period during the previous year.

The Corporation's solid results are attributable most notably to the Lottery sector, which saw its revenues grow by 3.1%, or $14.5 million, thanks primarily to the positive performance of Lotto 6/49. During the past quarter, this lottery's jackpot exceeded $30 million on three separate occasions.

With respect to the Video Lottery sector, revenues declined by 2.8%, essentially as a result of the removal of terminals from 394 establishments last year in conjunction with the network reconfiguration effort. For their part, the gaming halls in Trois-Rivières and Québec City posted overall performance superior to that of last year.

Within the Casino sector, the Casino de Charlevoix's earnings rose significantly by 11.3%, the Casino de Montréal's income grew by 2.3%, while the Casino du Lac Leamy's revenues declined by 2.5%. Finally, the Bingo sector's earnings were down by 21.6% as compared to the first quarter of the previous fiscal year. Regrettably, this translates into reduced revenues as well for non-profit organizations that already find themselves in a precarious financial position.

I invite you to consult the Quarterly Report (in French only) for more details.
